16 February saw 3 presenters from Wakatipu High School updating us on their recent activities sponsored by our Rotary club.

Unable to be present personally, Cameron Scobie provided a video of his highlights and experiences on his ‘Mind, Body & Soul’ course at Outward Bound.

Hannah Battrick and Linus Ritchie presented on their ‘great experiences’ at the recent Rotary National Science Forum in Auckland.  It is at this forum that science students explore the various facets of engineering available to them for future careers.  Highlights included working in teams, learning how the brain works and making new friends with similar future interests.

Hannah now intends to pursue 'Bioengineering' at the end of her school education. Bioengineering applies the principles of biology and the tools of engineering to create useful products such as artificial internal organs and body parts.
Linus will study 'Mechatronics' Engineering at Canterbury University. Mechatronics focuses on the engineering of electronics, electrical and mechanical engineering systems.

Here we, in Rotary, are helping young people determine the paths that they want to take in science and engineering for their future careers.
