A great night had by all last Tuesday with the Queenstown Rotary and Lions joint site meeting at the Holiday Inn. It was great to hear Michael White, and a few other members of the Lions, present some pretty cool initiatives and community projects.

I was particularly impressed with the loose change initiative.  I think the initiative in collecting this loose change up and donating to a charity is a superb idea, so good I ‘Googled’ it and discovered this article from a few years back - Loose Change Changes Pupils Life .  While the article is fairly old, Treasury back then estimated $80 million of old kiwi coins and $36 million in bank notes were unaccounted for. That would equate to millions, if not billions, across the globe.

It was great to share our Rotary initiatives too and thanks John Thompson, Ross Beal and Chris Taylor for your valuable knowledge of projects - namely Fiji water, Fountain of Peace and the Tucker Beach Bridge and Trail works.  Grant Rees did a wonderful job on presenting and special thanks to Valma Rees who assisted with our IT setup.

On another note, a very happy 80th Birthday to Kerry Dunlop. Kerry and Kit are due to be back to Queenstown around 20th August. I'm sure they will have a few good stories for us.

I look forward to seeing you all at our members night next Tuesday.

Yours in Rotary
President Jason

SPIRIT OF WAKATIPU AWARDS 2021
The Rotary Club of Queenstown is again a finalist in the 'Spirit of Wakatipu' Awards.

We are thrilled and honored to be considered once again for an award for our contribution to the community.  We love what we do, especially for our young people, so it is a real buzz to be considered for an award.
⭐ Our Club has been selected as a top finalist in the 2021 Spirit of Wakatipu Awards. ⭐

If you are interested in attending the dinner please let Lee-Ann know at llines@xtra.co.nz

It's $100pp because we are a finalist, normally $159.  See if we can get a table of 10 together.

RENTAL NEEDED FOR NEW ROTARIAN

New Rotary member Alex and her family are looking for a 3+ bedroom house to rent in Queenstown from mid or end of September (or early October) for at least 6 months, ideally longer.  Henry & Alex have two girls ages 10 and 12 and Henry works from home so an office space would be ideal but not vital.  They're hoping for a fully furnished or part furnished home.  If you have anything coming available or know of something please do help her out as there is very little around.

Thank you.  Alex's contact:  021-158-8084/alexboltonhogg@gmail.com
