This week has a minor change with us joining with Queenstown Inner Wheel and celebrating Christmas on board the Million Dollar Cruise between 6.00 and 7.30pm. on Wednesday Night 12th December.

(No Rotary Meeting This Tuesday)

We do however have one further meeting on Tuesday 18th December.  In view of another activity on that night that some of our members wish to attend we shall commence the meeting with the Annual General Meeting, cover the necessary business, and then proceed with the meal and other items such as wishing both of our Rotary Youth Exchange students farewell and presenting them with their blazers.
This will conclude our meetings for 2018.

2019 will commence on Tuesday 15th January.

It has been suggested to me that we should be giving members the opportunity to contribute to the regular Bulletin perhaps as ‘My Say or My Comments’.  If you wish to contribute, please send your thoughts to keith.mcintosh@xtra.co.nz.  I would have to say that I’ll leave it with Keith’s discretion, as Editor and Public Image, re publishing what comes forward.

Just to round off 2018 and our forthcoming Festive Season, it is appropriate to reflect on the past six months and be thankful for all for that we have achieved and this we will do during our meeting on 18th December.

Let us celebrate with family and friends, peace on earth and goodwill towards all mankind and remember those who have passed on or are no longer in our midst.

Let us also remember those who are less fortunate, in distress, in sorrow or ill.

And let us especially remember those who will be continuing to work while we hopefully have a rest – emergency staff, retailers, public servants, essential services and manufacturers, to ensure that our days run smoothly, and our needs are taken care of.

Faith makes all things possible.
Hope makes all things work.
Love makes all things beautiful.
May you have all these three for this Christmas.

Ruth and I wish you and your families a blessed and meaningful Merry Christmas and a Safe, Healthy, Peaceful, Fulfilling, Prosperous & A Happy New Year!
RECENT SPEAKERS

On 27th November a young experienced and enthusiastic 19 year old Free Ride Snow Boarder, Finn Duffy, gave a tremendous presentation in relation to his sport, his achievements and his goals.  Last year Queenstown Rotary were approached to assist Finn financially in his Free Ride Snow Boarding. During this last year he came out tops in world rankings and during this current year, that commenced during the local snow season, he has achieved extremely high results and is just about ready to enter the BIG FIELD with major sponsorships.  Following his presentation our Charitable Trust have agreed to assist him again this year to the tune of $1,000.00.

Last week Chris Tweddell provided a very entertaining and thought-provoking address.  He covered a couple of items during his school years that changed his life and way of actions at that time and how that led him into becoming an Anglican Priest for 30 years.  He was Chaplain at St Peter’s School in Cambridge prior to transferring to Queenstown to become the Anglican Vicar of the Wakatipu Parish.  He then explained why he retired from being an active Vicar to become a Student Counsellor at Wakatipu High School.  He discussed, and at the same time questioned, the aspirations and expectations of the youth of today compared with the youth days of our general membership.

If you will be away, or for some other reason you cannot do your duty on the nominated day, it is your responsibility as soon as possible, and certainly no later than the Monday night before the meeting, to arrange a substitute.  A swap with the person who has the duty the next week is suggested.
Please be there by 5.25 pm if you are on Reception or Meet & Greet.
