Across Europe, Rotaract members are using digital tools to share information and coordinate to help people who have been affected by the war in Ukraine
Last week, our meeting reflected the impact that COVID is having on club attendance. We just had 20 members at the meeting so we decided to postpone incoming President Grant’s talk on his 40 year career as a sonographer and ultrasound scanner. Instead Grant organised and led a fun Quiz Night.
We also welcomed our guest, Nell Pooley, who will soon be joining the club. Nell is past member Riki Hunter’s partner and she is really keen to get involved in club activity. Riki has said that he is still here for us whenever we have a project that needs his building expertise.
44 members, partners and friends enjoyed the Polio+ Movie Night fundraiser with dinner afterwards at Winnies Pizza. The movie was funny and, for a few, provided some nostalgia of London times back in the early 1960’s. Rotary was even mentioned in the script! Thank you for supporting this fundraiser. We raised $771 for Polio+.
The next off-site meeting on June 7th will be interesting and one not to miss. See the poster below for more info. This is an open invitation event. Please invite anyone you think would enjoy it. Dinner afterwards at the amazing Giovi Italian Restaurant is booked. Just $30pp.

If you wish to put in an apology or an extended apology, please email queenstownrotary@gmail.com to do this. Thanks.
On 7 May Lee-Ann attended the opening of the Shotover Country Mini Ramp. The club donated $5,500 towards this community project.
Well done to everyone involved, particularly George Carver and the Mini-Ramp Committee. It's been a long road to get it consented, find funding and getting it built to such a high standard. This is a fabulous addition for the community.
Special thanks goes to the Lake Hayes Estate and Shotover Country Community Association.
Here from left to right, Joseph Mooney MP, Gavin Flynn, Nick Hayne, Lee-Ann Lines and George Carver.
Who is interested to join Lee-Ann & Incoming President Grant at this awards night?
Please see Lee-Ann for more details and tickets.
We have been the lucky recipients of YPNZ grants in the past and have an application in for another one. The club matches whatever grant $$ we receive, and these funds go towards supporting WHS students on such courses as Bluelight programmes such as The Spirit of Adventure or Life Skills as well as other opportunities like Outward Bound.
The Spirit of the Wakatipu Awards are an opportunity to recognise and celebrate those individuals, organisations, groups and corporate entities who put their hand up and contribute in a philanthropic way to the Wakatipu community and who hold true to the values that collectively define what is unique about the place we call home.
IPP Lee-Ann is looking after the programme, duties, meetings and attendance. If you have any suggestions/ideas for the programme please let her know. If you have a duty and can’t attend, please make sure you find a replacement.
The 3 Minute Talk - to make sure we run to time, please keep to between 3-5 minutes, unless pre-arranged with President Jason.
Apologies - Must be received to queenstownrotary@gmail.com before 12pm Tuesday at the latest. Please be aware that you will be invoiced for your meal if no apology is received. If you are unsure if you can make it each week, you can put in a permanent apology and let us know when you do come. It is easier to inform the restaurant of an extra meal than the Club having to pay for meals not claimed.
