What a great night it was on June 22 as we all met at the QT and Bazaar restaurant for changeover night.  Thanks so much Lee-Ann for your presentation skills and help with the venue!.  It was such a privilege that we were able to recognize and honour the significant contribution that the Wakatipu Reforestation Trust is doing within our community and awarding PHFs to Neill and Barbara Simpson.  Thank you to Steve Maclean for the citation delivery in both Neill and Barbs PHF and President Lee-Ann’s Awards.

https://wrtqt.org.nz/  is the website if you would like to learn more about the trust, getting involved and supporting.

Congratulations to our fellow Rotarians who received awards of recognition from outgoing President Lee-Ann, and thank you for dedication to the club and projects over the last year, we appreciate your efforts.

On Saturday 26th June, Lee-Ann, Hamish, David Tait, Gabrielle, Joy and I travelled over for District Change over and welcomed in new District Governor, Nick Wood, and farewell to Dylan Murray albeit via Zoom due to a close call in the Wellington Covid case.  Nick is the youngest District Governor in the world for this period.  It was a great evening had by all and Queenstown Rotary received two awards - we were first for the best Bulletin production - great thanks go to our Keith and Heather McIntosh plus Lee-Ann’s focus on current Rotary news and links. We also received a second award for best increased membership. There is no doubt that the great work undertaken by Gabriel and her Membership Committee has helped us achieve this and, as I mentioned at change overnight, our new International Rotary President Shekhar Mehta has an ambitious goal to increase worldwide membership by 100,000 by June 2022 - for us to do our part is all of us inviting one new person to join Rotary.

My first meeting has been a bit of a false start due to mother nature and the weather bomb last Tuesday - I hope our off-site event planned for Tuesday 6th July at Strike Bowl is going to kick things of nicely.

I hope everyone is safe and warm and look forward to seeing you next Tuesday.

Yours in Rotary
President Jason

The Club has received a resignation from Richard Cunliffe in Te Anau.  Richard says his rehabilitation from the stroke will take years and not months and so he is unlikely to return to Queenstown in the near future.  We wish him well.

The 3 Minute Talk - to make sure we run to time, please keep to between 3-5 minutes.

Apologies - Must be received to queenstownrotary@gmail.com before 12pm Tuesday at the latest.  Please be aware that you will be invoiced for your meal if no apology is received.  If you are unsure if you can make it each week, you can put in a permanent apology and let us know when you do come.  It is easier to inform the restaurant of an extra meal than the Club having to pay for meals not claimed.
