Happy Christmas Queenstown Rotarians and friends of the club
Our Christmas meal at Gantley’s provided a fitting end to the calendar year and halfway point for the Rotary year. We had a great crowd, great food and great atmosphere and it was wonderful to see our new members Shikha, Alastair and Rebeca there who have joined us over the last few months.
We will get into a busy programme next year starting with the Camp Quality BBQ lunch on 6 January, our own BBQ at Tucker Beach, the A&P Show and Opera in the Garden carparking, a weeding workday at Tucker Beach, RYLA, the NZ Golf Open, our visit to Monte Christo wines, and the Charity Art Auction. The aim is to get everyone involved in these events in some way. Doing good things together to me is the essence of Rotary.
Barbara and I would like to wish you all a very merry Christmas celebrated with family and friends and a productive and fulfilling year in 2026. We’ll be here at home with our daughter Laura, her husband Xander and their two preschool daughters. Having little ones will rekindle the old spirit of Christmas as seen through our grandchildren’s eyes. Looking forward to it.
So have a great time over the festive season and we’ll look forward to seeing you again at the BBQ on 20 Jan if not before.

With just 6 sleeps to go until Santa squeezes down the chimney, the festive spirit feels like it is in full swing now. We kicked it off with our Club function at Gantleys (see further down for some pic's), and the now the shops really are busy and the roads even more so!
Whether you've been good this year or are doing some last-minute elf-bribery 🎁 it is a special time to share with loved ones and friends. Our thoughts are with our members and friends who have lost loved ones this year.
We hope you enjoy every moment of the festive season, whether that means you are hitting the road, jetting off somewhere, or relaxing at home.

Rotarians from D7255 (Long Island, NY) and some partners are visiting our District in March and looking for host Rotarians to provide accommodation, friendship and share some local knowledge.
They have a full itinerary so you are not expected to show them around, but they will visit our Club night on the 24th March.
They are in Queenstown for 3 Nights and accommodation is required from 22-24 March (depart on the 25th March).
When was polio last in Europe? If you guessed 2002, the year the region was certified polio-free, you’re wrong. The last time polio affected a child in Europe was 2015. Outbreaks like the one that occurred in Ukraine that year are why, although we are so close to eradicating polio, we still need $1.5 billion more to finish the job.
