Our off-site meeting on 6th July was at the Queenstown Strike Bowl. I felt it was great to get out, catch up with fellow Rotarians and have some laughs.  I think most of us had a few gutter balls, and our stacker even broke down for a bit, but it was all good fun.  Congratulations to all.  Lee-Ann brought along the Bulletin Shield and Balclutha Cup for increased membership - it was great to acknowledge our Club and Rotarians for this.

Well I finally got a venue meeting under my belt on 13th July. It was good meeting with a great Sergeants session from Tim and a 3 min talk from Brian McPherson.  We also had Linda Turner, a visiting kiwi Rotarian from Melbourne, join us.  She was lucky enough to be here, unlike Kerry and Kit Dunlop stuck in lock-down in NSW - a nice letter and update from them read out by Lee-Ann.  It was great to acknowledge the community work done by Geoff Dalzell as he collected his award for his service.

The Guest Speaker of the night, Rotarian Richard Bowman, presented an excellent account of the Wilding Pines issues and the groups assisting in eradicating the problem.  I’m not sure how many of us knew that the problem was so wide spread and throughout New Zealand.  It’s certainly an area we will focus on and help where possible during Rotary 21/22.

Next week is Club Assembly - we will be able to present the survey results and compare with previous surveys.

For our next off site meeting on 3rd August, we are proposing to go to FOGO, a Brazilian BBQ restaurant in the Mall, Queenstown. We have managed to get the price down to $49 per person - all you can eat and we will have a Guest Speaker attending too.
I hope everyone is safe and warm and look forward to seeing you on Tuesday.

Yours in Rotary
President Jason

DUTIES NOTICES & APOLOGIES
IPP Lee-Ann is looking after the programme, duties, meetings and attendance.  If you have any suggestions/ideas for the programme please let her know.  If you have a duty and can’t attend, please make sure you find a replacement.

Apologies - Must be received to queenstownrotary@gmail.com before 12pm Tuesday at the latest.  You will be invoiced for your meal if no apology is received.  Please advise if you if you want to go on a permanent apology and then just let us know when you do want to attend.  It is easier to inform the restaurant of an extra meal than the Club or you, having to pay for meals not claimed.

The 3 Minute Talk - to make sure we run to time, please keep to between 3-5 minutes, unless pre-arranged with President Jason.

Apologies - Must be received to queenstownrotary@gmail.com before 12pm Tuesday at the latest.  Please be aware that you will be invoiced for your meal if no apology is received.  If you are unsure if you can make it each week, you can put in a permanent apology and let us know when you do come.  It is easier to inform the restaurant of an extra meal than the Club having to pay for meals not claimed.

Anybody who would like to donate an artwork to be sold can drop it off to Andie King at the Queenstown Art Society in Ballarat Street from August 7th.

I'm sure many of our members would be interested in supporting this long-established local good cause either by buying a ticket or donating something, and it is another way in which we can support the High School.
