The Spirit of the Wakatipu Awards were celebrated on Saturday 12 September.

Members of our representative team attending the Wakatipu Community Foundation  'Spirit of the Wakatipu' Awards last weekend where we were one of three finalists for the 'Spirit of the Community' Award. We were unsuccessful, the winner being the Arrowtown Autumn Festival. We were successful in our application to the  'Generation Give' youth section of the Foundation for funding for Queenstown Rotary 2019/20 youth projects.  Photos help capture the awesome setting at the Queenstown Events Centre and Lee-Ann Lines, our Youth Director, receiving the $2,000 award cheque from 'Generation Give'.

It is the intention of the Club to match the original $2,000 grant awarded to our Club by 'Generation Give' plus add $500. This and a matching $2,000 grant from the Hugo Foundation, announced on the night, will bring the total to $6,500 which enables the Club to sponsor 2-3 deserving Wakatipu High School students to 'Outward Bound' and/or the 'Spirit of Adventure' courses.  These courses have a proven track record of producing outstanding future leaders.

Being a successful recipient of this grant is a fantastic result for our Club and will further strengthen our relationship with the younger members of this wonderful community that we call home and serve.
