PRESIDENT'S BLOG
Every potential Rotarian wants to belong to a Vibrant Club and none want to join a Zombie Club.  In truth, all clubs are somewhere on the spectrum from Vibrant to Zombie.  It would be useful to look at the differences between each of these extremes in order to see where our club might fit.

The key characteristics of a Vibrant club are diversity, energy and fellowship.  A Vibrant Club will have a diversity of gender, ethnicity, socio-economic levels and general abilities.  It will have a high level of energy, enthusiasm and participation.  Vibrant Clubs will do a range of different activities and will have a vision of the Club as an organisation that makes a difference in the community.  A Vibrant Club will welcome change and all that goes with it.  It will never rest on its laurels and will be eager to get onto the next project, fellowship event, outing etc.  Its members will grow their skills and make a difference locally by being involved as champions of projects and officers of the Club.  Fellowship and connection will be eagerly sought and engaged in.

By definition, a Zombie Club will be the opposite of a Vibrant Club.  It will lack diversity, energy, fellowship and participation.

Every decision that we, as Rotarians, make within or about our Club moves us a little way in either direction.  It is the combination of all these little decisions, by every member, that decides which kind of club we are and how our future will unfold.

Choose wisely when you make a decision within the club; whether it involves participation, leadership, involvement, championing or fellowship options.  Not making a decision is in itself a vote for Zombieism and defeat.

SCIENCE and TECHNOLOGY CHAMPION NEEDED

We need somebody to step up to the plate to be the Champion for the Rotary National Science & Tech Forum.  Last year we sent two students from the High School and they both won the scholarship to go to the Science Fair in Europe.

Our Club has always had an active involvement in this extremely worthwhile project which changes the lives of those who participate.

The details are included here.  Note:  Time is of the essence.

We are offering the project to Club members first to gauge if there is any interest.  Thereafter, we will offer it to Friends of Rotary as there may be somebody in that group who would like to champion such a worthy cause.

If we do not get a Champion for the project, then we will let it lapse until next year due to lack of interest.

CHAMPIONS NEEDED
Currently, we need 'Champions' for the following projects:

Meals on Wheels (see President’s Blog) to help organise getting Meals on Wheels onto a more sustainable footing.

Meals on Wheels Roster 'Champion' - organise the Rotary commitment to delivering Meals on Wheels for October 2017.

Stroke Foundation ́s Blood Pressure Campaign - to be held on 7th October at Pac n Save, Frankton - 10 am to 2 pm.

SURVEY OF ROTARIAN'S ADULT CHILDREN
This survey (see the link below to the survey - just send the link to your adult children and ask them to fill it in) has only been completed by 7 people.  However, the quality of the answers has been very useful.  They know that their parents have had a lot of satisfaction and networking opportunities from their Rotary connection.  They are fully aware of the benefits of being a Rotarian. We really do need to work on their objections to joining.  From what little information we have, the key objections are: the requirement to attend weekly (this is no longer the case!), the fact that the club is all male, the lack of age diversity in the club, the time requirement to being a Rotarian, the outdated formalities.

Please ask your adult children to help us get Rotary to the next level by filling out this form.  It can be done anonymously.
